Tata has introduced it's all new electric car, Tata Tiago, which comes at very low price range and it becomes one of the most affordable electric hatchback and also becomes first electric car under Rs 10 lakh in India. Tata tiago has been launched at a starting price of Rs 8.49 lakh (Ex-showroom) and goes upto Rs 11.79 lakh (Ex-showroom).
Exterior and Interiors:
Electric version of Tata Tiago is similar to the ICE version in terms of design and looks whereas Tata has done little bit of blue finishing around the body and headlamps, which helps in differentiating the electric and IC version. Tri-arrows are placed on the bumpers as well as front closed grille. EV marking has been embedded in the grille and blue outlining has been done on the fog lamps. The door handles got some piano black insertings and dual tone color with R14 hyper style alloys which makes a perfect combination to opt.
The interior is identical to its ICE version but it also has some blue insertings in cabin which is inspired from Tata Tigor EV. AC vents has been outlined with blue accents and now it gets leatherette steering wheel and seats, which gives a premium cabin experience. It gets fully digital console and chrome finished door handles. The gear lever has been replaced with a multi drive mode selector dial.
Powertrain and Performance:
Tata has offered the Tiago in two Lithium-ion battery pack options i.e. 19.5 kWh and 24 kWh. Both the batteries and motor comes with IP67 weatherproof rating and can operate in an ambient weather conditions. The vehicle is unleashed with Ziptron technology which has a 3 phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. This technology with 24 kWh battery pack helps to make a power of 74 bhp and 114 nm of peak torque while 19.5 kWh battery pack makes 61 bhp of power and 110 nm of torque.
Tata also offers reliability by providing 8 year or 1,60,000 km of warranty on motor as well as battery. 19.5 kWh of battery can take the vehicle upto 250 km whereas 24 kWh battery pack helps to sustain upto 315 km. The variants with larger battery pack sprints from 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds whereas smaller battery pack takes 6.2 seconds to do the same. The overall performance is good and sports mode helps a lot to sprint faster.
Tata says that, 19.5 kWh battery can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 5 hour 30 minutes with the help of 3.3kW home charger and 24 kWh battery can be charged in 6 hour 30 minutes. The company has also stated that both the batteries are capable of fast charging and by using 50 kW DC fast charger both the batteries can be charged within 1 hour. It also has an optional 7.2 kW AC fast charger that enables both the batteries to get charged 45% faster compared to the standard charger.

Tata Tiago is available in 4 trims i.e. XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech luxury. The XE variant is available in only 19.5 kWh battery pack whereas remaining variants have an option of 24 kWh as well. The car is available in dual tone and has an option of 5 colors to select i.e. Pristine White, Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist and Midnight Plum. Top variant and second top variant gets 8 surround speakers whereas lower variants to get only 4 speakers.
Tata Tiago EV has been loaded with 45 connected app features via Zconnect app and connected smartwatch helps to keep a watch on car. The vehicle gets hill start and decent assist, automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, TPMS, automatic headlamps, cruise control and much more. It also gets multi-mode regen with four levels. Tiago EV has lot more features than IC Tiago version. If we talk about it's rivals than it has no rivals because this is the only electric hatchback at this price range.
