Today we all are fed up of increasing fuel prices and we are considering the vehicles which gives us more mileage so that running cost gets lower. By looking this, many automobile companies came with an electric vehicles which not only reduces the running cost but also reduces the pollution. Now we are confused that which one should we consider Bajaj Chetak Or Ola S1. Let's take a review of both the scooters.
Ola S1
Ola recently entered into automobile sector and introduced it's first electric vehicle S1 which is powered by 8.5kW mid drive IPM motor and gets a battery pack of 2.98kWh which can be charged from 0 to 100% in 4 hours and 50 minutes. It can go maximum to 170 km in a single charge at eco mode. It can go 0 to 60 in just 5 seconds when it is in sports mode. It has a length, width and height of 1859mm, 712mm and 1160mm respectively. Also it gets the ground clearance of 169mm and wheelbase of 1359mm. The kerb weight of the vehicle is around 125 kg and has an underseat storage of 36 L. It gets an full led setup in front as well as in back with led tail light and turn indicators. It has a top speed of 115 kmph and produces torque of 58Nm.
It has a single fork suspension at front due to which the front looks are enhanced but it shows that scooter does not has good built quality while at rear it gets monoshock. If we come to brake then it has a very good braking system with both front and rear disc brakes. It gets an aluminium alloy with tubeless tyres. Now when you come to features then it's very rich in features and it has a massive 7-inch touch display. It has remote unlock, remote trunk opener and push start button. It also has the features like hill hold, cruise control, reverse, external speakers, music controls, anti-theft alarm, navigation, bluetooth, wifi and lot more. And you get this all in just Rs 1,00,000 and has a very futuristic design which attracts the people to buy. But it has only one year of warranty which makes the people to think a little before buying.
Bajaj Chetak
Bajaj is one of the famous brand in automobile sector and it has a good reliability as well. Bajaj also introduced it's first electric two wheeler chetak. The name chetak is derived from the scooters which was sold by Bajaj on 1990s era. New chetak has a very classy look and is converted into electric. It is powered by 4080W BLDC motor and has a battery capacity of 2.98 kWh. The company claims the range of 95 km in a single charge and it has a top speed of 70kmph only which is very low as compared to Ola S1. It has kerb weight of 132 kg and ground clearance of 147mm. It has an alloy wheels with tubeless tyres and gets disc brake only in front not in rear.
The styling is good but it does not offers a lot of features. But it has more features than usual scooters like reverse, remote unlock, push button start. The turn indicators are smart enough that they automatically gets switched off when we have completed the turn. It has only 16 L of boot space which is very less as compared to Ola S1 and it does not gets a descent amount of space at front also but it's seat is so long and it's very comfortable. It gets fully charged in 4 hours and 40 minutes. Beside this all the Bajaj offers 3 years of warranty for the scooter and it is priced at 1.48 lakhs.
As you can see there is a major difference in terms of price, power, range and features of both the scooters. And you will find that Ola S1 is good to buy but it has only 1 year warranty and many of the owners are complaining that there is a lot of heating issue in the scooter and in some cities they even catch fire due to the heat whereas Bajaj Chetak does not have any complaint and any major issues so it's better to opt Bajaj Chetak instead of Ola S1 as we can compromise everything but not our life so if you consider the safety first then you should go for Bajaj Chetak only.
