Nissan is a renowned Japanese car manufacturer and has an excellent presence in global markets. Now, by focusing on Indian markets and by understanding the needs of Indians, Nissan has set their best SUVs to get launched in India very soon. One of them is X-Trail, which was discontinued in 2014 due to low numbers in sales but now it has been all set to comeback with a new Hybrid engine.
Highlights:
- All models are being to be low-volume CBU imports.
- X-Trail is being started testing on Indian roads.
- All the models are of SUV segment and X-Trail may have 7-seater option.
- All models to get additional e-Power i.e. Hybrid engine.
Nissan X-Trail to be launched soon:
Nissan X-Trail has set it's comeback in India, it was first launched by Nissan in 2005 and is one of the most popular model from Japanese carmaker. The fourth-generation X-Trail would be the first to hit the Indian market among these three. The SUV has been already being tested at company's facility near Chennai and once the testing completes, brand will announce the timeline of launch as soon as possible.
What it gets? This is a major question among Indians and here is our answer.
X-Trail has been developed on Alliance CMF-C platform. It will be launched in hybrid system, where it will be equipped with a 150kWh battery at front and will make various compression ratio with petrol engine and inverter. The e-Power is definitely going to increase the performance as well as range of the vehicle. The vehicle can get two drive options i.e. e-Power strong hybrid which will produce 202 bhp of power and e-Power with an all-wheel drive system which will generate 215 bhp of power.
X-Trail can also get a 12v mild-hybrid system which can churn about 160 bhp of max power and 290 nm of torque. The mild-hybrid system can recover energy by regenerative braking system and this will be stored in battery to power the SUV when required. You can read more about Hybrid cars and how it works, to get detailed information. The SUV is solely going to run by batteries and motor in strong hybrid because engine is wholely used for only charging of batteries, they are not going to push the vehicle as of other cars.
More on Nissan X-Trail:
Nissan is aiming on SUV segments as this segment has been loved by Indians. But, Nissan has to face a tough competition as X-Trail is already having it's rivals in India like Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass, VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq and Citroen C5 Aircross which are mid-size premium SUV. By considering the features, performance and drive train we can guess that it will priced near 25 to 30 lakh Ex-showroom, but if Nissan launches it in a range of 20 lakh than obviously it can get a huge amount of bookings.
Nissan Quashqai and Juke:
The other two cars along with X-Trail were Quashqai and Juke which are also an internationally hit mid-range SUVs. These both car will also get a hybrid engine and options of strong-hybrid and mild-hybrid. Quashqai is a 5-seater SUV and smaller than X-Trail. Battery pack can also be revised and can be contracted than the one X-Trail will have.
Nissan Juke is also a mid-size SUV of 4.2 metres in length and Juke is also having a good global presence. But company is not having any plan to launch this model in India whereas it can be launched in future. Juke has 1.6L engine with an option of strong hybrid and mild hybrid and this model can made a good rivalry with Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder if it's launched in India.
